Smart Green
The city is investing in dog parks. Why? So more animals can take up precious green areas in our city. Play areas, car parks, condos all take more and more away from the little greenery us city dwellers hold on too. My proposal is Smart Green. I come from a country that has a tradition of older members of the public using allotment areas to grow food, get back to nature and have a hobby. What a wonderful idea it would be to have "Smart Green" areas. Small locations throughout the city, whether it be in parks or in gutted out cars Ill leave the imaginative bit to you, where edible plants are grown and can be picked. Herbs could be planted here. Durable vegetables. Lemon grasses. Seeds could be planted and grow throughout the season. Not only could people be encouraged to use the area to grow things but children could learn the importance of healthy eating. How to grow organic plants. Learn the science behind it. There could even be a cover, like a green housing unit, placed over it or over some to help maintain scrubs int he winter time. It is something that could help people who dot have money to buy certain foods as herbs are expensive. It could teach our children. It could bring communities together while working to maintain these spots and forge friendships even. I believe this would be a noble project for Smart City 2013.
