Automatic carpooling connection service
COGO, is a site and web application designed, built and operating, to automatically connect daily commuters, both riders and drivers, to others they may potentially share rides with on their way to work, school, or elsewhere. The service is the most convenient and comprehensive online tool available for carpooling, making it literally the smartest online solution available for drivers, to save significant driving costs and to reduce pollution daily. The average driver spends thousands annually on their daily trip, and emits over 5 tons of carbon dioxide, and over 70% of us in Canada make the daily trip alone! Not to mention all of the other ways in which car maintenance, road maintenance, potential green spaces used for parking, and daily traffic and congestion affects the environment and health of our cities. By making a significant reduction to this traffic we can improve the environment of our cities a great deal, and make them a lot more pleasant places to live! The program works as follows: Users are able to see matches of people with similar trips they may feasibly share, based on route trajectory, and time. It also calculates a suggested price to contribute to the ride based on driving costs of your route and number of people in the carpool. It also lists details about each driver's vehicle, that user's rating based on reviews from other users, and even posts some interesting details about the person you will be driving with (such as favourite music, whether or not they stop for coffee, and a bit about themselves), so the system is as user friendly as possible. The system will confirm the identities of each user in a given network to ensure users a safe service as well. Once users have found their match they can then instantly message one another to arrange rides, and stay in contact. There are also a variety of other aspects which make this tool really smart! The program will build a database of people's daily routes throughout the city, and allow city planners and municipal transportation services to optimize things like bus routes, parking spaces, even traffic lights, based on our comprehensive and real-time data concerning where people are going and when! COGO also allows local advertisers to offer special promotions to COGO members to incentivise and finance the growth of this service! We want nothing less with this tool than to make a huge impact in our city and potentially in cities all over the world! We think its a pretty smart idea!
