Terra Cycle Bins/ Healthy Snacks
I would encourage people in my community to keep the earth in mind when picking a snack. I would educate my community to eat snacks that do not have packaging. I would also provide each household with a Terra Cycle bin. It would be brown, to remind people that every day is Earth Day! My terra cycle bin would be small and made of hard plastic pouch with a lid. It would attach to the outside of your blue bin, and it would be put out on the curb each week. Every week, the region would collect the following in the terra cycle bin: ziplocs, cookie wrappers, Kool-Aid jammers, shiny foil snack containers. I would then package and sell the recycled terra cycle items back to the companies that produce these products or have young students design different products that the town could sell like t-shirts, pencil cases, purses, rugs- all made from recycled terra snack waste. I would buy land beside the town Waste Management sit to recycle the terra items. I would even create a Terra Recycle Shop that sells cool recycled items to the community. I would educate students in our schools first and then 6 months later, introduce the bins to the community. I would send out flyers with a website that would educate families about terra recycle waste and its impact on the environment. I would provide "freebie" incentives for people who use the terra bins during the first month they are introduced. Gifts would be given at the regional Waste Management site for families that attach and use the bin. It would be a win-win for the Earth and our community. We all need to get smart and make every day Earth Day! Thank you for investing in our environment and our future! Keep the dream of a healthy world alive!
