Siksika home owners to grow their own Vegetable gardens
Our Siksika community really needs a recycling centre for our plastic, metal, bottle/cans, newspaper/paper products, compost & clothing bins. I see our waste area is always at full capacity & we really need to educate our community members & espicially our younger generations on the importance of Recycling & Waste management & living a Quality lifestyle within our homes, yards & overall community areas. Another idea is to grow our own gardens I do & we have Excellent soil & land to enable families to grow their own Vegetable & Flower gardens, I share our vegetable crop with my neighbours ( single-family/low-income families), family, friends & community members. I would drop-off vegetables at our Education office & end of day veggies are all gone so I've been promoting Healthy eating & providing my vegetables for families who cannot afford to always have vegetables for their children. Two yrs. ago tried to start some individuals/families who were interested but they lacked the seeds, garden tools & equipment to get started but the Interest is still there. So those two ideas are realistic & feasible to start, manage & instill a Healthy Lifesyle & Productive community environment. We were devastated by the major flood but our community members are rebuilding their community sites & more importantly they want to be Active & giving the opportunity to reclaim their dignity & independence.
