Non-profit educational incentive
My dream is to be able to create a community of activists. In doing so, I would like to empower everyday citizens to take action on issues that matter to them. I would like to set up an educational resource and workshop centre which would teach people how to be activists, and how to get through the bureaucracy of City Hall and Parliament at no cost. I would like to engage other citizens, academics and industry professionals to teach anyone of any age, who would like to take action on local environmental issues that affect them and that they want to change. Further, I would like to set up a complimentary website where citizens would contribute news stories, essays and any other form of expression about their environment and their experiences within our city and province. The website would also include instructional videos on how to write effective letters to Counsellors, MPs and MPPs, how to find resources that could assist, and how to start fundraisers and petitions for their cause. The environment is all around us, and I believe that we can make a greater impact by working on small projects within our own communities. If we all work on one project near and dear, we can have dozens of small projects making headway at the same time. Just as the environment is intertwined, so are we!
