Outdoor classrooms
Create green spaces, sculpture gardens, benches and community gardens on school campus so student access the out of doors more frequently. Have the students design the hardscape (brick, metal, wood,) and soft scape (trees, shrubs, herbs) so it is functional and aesthetically pleasing as well as connected to the students. Link the neighbourhood groups with the green space so the school and community are more closely partnered. Involve the local businesses and NGO's in donations for the works of public art. Involve artist-in-residences in mentoring students in the design process.
