Solar Water heating incentives
For residents and businesses that can install solar water heating (essentially a decades old system that is just heat conductive pipes that are painted black so soak up solar energy) the city/province/nation would provide incentives that would reduce the overall price of the retrofit, and would yield a FAR lower total energy/carbon footprint. Water heating is approximately 50% of the total energy use in the average home - whether by electric or gas. This, combined with already popular tankless water heaters (and further incentives for them that have been removed), would lower the overall energy of a business or family considerably!
