SMART CITY DN_MTL
My Idea of a smart city would be an entire re-construction in how we live. We can'y just change the world around us without first changing human nature or current human nature. All this to say, I believe Solar Energy would be a great start. For example, in my community back home (NDG) I would have solar pannels fitted on every community center and shelter and halfway house for people who have no where to go. I would introduce newer parks and not just tear buildings down and construcut condos to try and move people out of their community because to be honest that I was the city of Montreal is doing. Taking shit areas, putting new condos and making you feel out of place for living there. The city needs to make more use of wind power as well, we have alot of unused land that is wasting away. We need to stop building condos and think more about city infrastructure. Before anything else roads, bridges and subway networks need to be fixed. More gargabe bins and recycling bins need to be introduced into the urban landscape of the city. I also believe a Tram would also be useful to the city and if not a tram, a light rail that can be built above street level in order to prevent major traffic. If renting a vehicle withing city limits, it should only be an electric vehicle. Unless you decide to do hefty travelling, then permit fueled vehicles. Last but not least, there should be one single day in the month where everything just shuts down, just to give mother nature a break. Implement free bike rentals and have activities for everyone on that one day.
