In my community i find that it is lacking greenery. For example next to my building two trees were cut down. I would like to see more trees built in my community and landscaping around my building to promote oxygen in the air.

I am with Earth Day Canada and I would like to see more educational programs in schools being provided to children to take initiative and promote green living. I feel passionately about getting children involved in the process as they are going to be our future policy makers and adults of our communities. Children are also enthusiastic about making our environment more green and also they can educate their families about what they are learning. The 50,000 would go towards educational programs in schools.

In my school community we have solar panels that are installed on our roof. The problem we find is that during the winter months snow is covering the solar panels which are blocking the sun from interacting with the solar panels. It would be great to create a team that specifically cleans the snow off solar panels so they can be used therefore reducing energy consumption.

I have been planning to create a non profit organization that focuses on making communities more greener. My plan would be to focus on neighborhoods that do not have a lot of trees. I would plant trees in these neighborhoods through my start up organization. Trees provide oxygen for our environment that are necessary for our health.

Our collective idea as a group would be to create a micro grid in a public space and make it esthetically pleasing so that interest could be generated about the microgrid movement. As a part of the exhibit there would be bicycles for people to produce power for the micro grid to make it more interactive so that people will support the idea of incorporating this energy creating model into gyms . End goal is to create awareness about health, the environment, energy, and art so that people have a personal connection to this locallly energy sustaining model. A final endpoint would be to use this awareness to influence other people and help them realize that all walks of life can contribute to environmental sustainability.

I would like to see vertical gardens in my community. Right now, houses, community centers, and buildings do not have vertical gardens on them. I strongly feel that the benefits of vertical gardens are great ! They lower the buildings heat, allow the community to be more esthetically appealing, and oxygenate the air!

I would like to see solar panel traffic lights and streetlights be powered by solar energy. This would cut the cost of energy consumption in my community.

I would like to focus on metal recycling to be diverted to infrastructure use on military basis for maintenance and construction purposes.

Local governments should establish a green code system for builders to ensure that new residential and commercial building developments incorporate green features such as water conservations, bright lighting, solar panels, etc.

I am from a smaller community and when on route to school i find i have to drive 20 min to park my vehicle at the nearest stop and then take transit to my destination. I would love to see transit systems being more accessible so that it would promote the use of green transit.

In my neighborhood near my community centre I find that there is a hill that does not have any trees or plants near it. There is an empty path that looks open with huge green spaces around it that can be utilized. I would like to see landscaping and trees planted around this hill to promote people to spend more time outdoors around the community centre.

I am finding that to heat up pools are very expensive to maintain. Why not install solar panels in a busy Toronto community centre which will serve as an alternative to conventional heating.
