There is a way to fight against air pollution. It is mostly caused by factories, so we should force factories to put filters on their chimneys. Thus cleaner air and possibly less cases of asthma and other respitory conditions.

Make the cities have green lanes (specific bike lanes). Not only is this good for the enviroment with less emissions its safer for the community. Bikes are not safe with regular traffic and do not belong on the side walk.

There is a program that lets people pledge to pick up 10 pieces of trash in your community outside every Tuesday, and if you do as pledged, they give you great prizes. I heard they let a few lucky people go on a missionary trip for free with them each year. Why not make this canada wide and not just in a small community....

Plant more trees in park areas, specifically ginko for cleaner air.

Arrange somthing with the recycling companies Where which ever household brings in the most recycling in weight wins a prize or can pick from various prizes for that day.

To get people to litter less often and throw their garbage in the garbage can instead, prevent people to empty out their garbage and waste into the ocean so it will stop polluting lakes, rivers, and oceans, think of a way to stop factory's from polluting the air with the smoke coming out of their factory's. These are the biggest problems in city's that are turning the world's city's into a non-inhabitable place and these are ways to stop them from happening.

Cancel the protectionist tariff against China for solar panels. Purchase billions in solar panels and subsidize the installation through out the city. Solar panels reduce the load on the transformers. Lower wear and tear means lower maintenance. Lower electrical costs puts more money into the local economy. Install cameras all over the city. Every city already does this. Transfer control of garbage collection to local communities. The same for parking meters. parking fines can still be handled by the city. This will break up the unions. It will lower the cost of collections, create jobs, and fund local projects. This allows communities better control over what they want done locally. Convert all public schools to not-for-profit institutions. Break-up the unions and force everyone to compete. Best candidate wins. Vouchers can be given to families who will have a CHOICE as which school to send their kid. All students must pass a standardized exam to graduate.

The first thing we can do is to stop throwing litter. Also, the city should place more garbage bins. People should be more informed about the dangers of throwing your litter under the woods. This way, our city will be cleaner. One thing we can also do is to use paper and cloth bags instead of plastic bags. We can also fight against water pollution. We should stop using the products of companies whose factories cause pollution, so we will force them to use environmentally friendly production methods. The government should close these companies who have polluted rivers for a long time. This way our rivers will be cleaner. People would have clean water to drink and to swim in.

There are no trees. It is possible to plant more trees. For instance parking lots. There will be just some tree trunks in the middle, that wouldn't stop the cars, and a tree like an Oak tree can cover a huge area as it gets old. Or empty squares or the empty areas around buildings. Or you can plant high and skinny trees like Cypress trees almost any corner. Trees change the whole look of a place. It is much more positive and of course the environment. And they are really not at all expensive. With 50.000$ you can really make a big change.

My first thought, which has been an ongoing discussion in my area, is rainwater and runoff control. Water runoff carries pollutants into our streams, and not only damages the ecology but also puts a greater stress on our water treatment plants. Rain gardens are used along streets and on storm system inlets, both as storage for excess water and as a filtration system (sediments trap particulates, plants process them.) Another way to implement it is to reduce the amount of impermeable surfaces that cause the runoff to begin with. If the water could soak into the ground, we wouldn't need excessively large storm drain systems.

Plant gardens on top of the buildings. First the plants will help reduce carbon dioxide. Second they will help to cool the building because the plants will use the suns rays to help grow, which in turn will reduce the need for AC in the summer, reducing CO2 in turn.
