Water run off mu_edm
My first thought, which has been an ongoing discussion in my area, is rainwater and runoff control. Water runoff carries pollutants into our streams, and not only damages the ecology but also puts a greater stress on our water treatment plants. Rain gardens are used along streets and on storm system inlets, both as storage for excess water and as a filtration system (sediments trap particulates, plants process them.)
Another way to implement it is to reduce the amount of impermeable surfaces that cause the runoff to begin with. If the water could soak into the ground, we wouldn't need excessively large storm drain systems.
