People which live in apartments dont have the ability to own a garden. But when that person is informed of the financial as well as health benefits of owning a garden in a container the cities food bill would be reduced. Also the produce will be healthier due to no pesticides

We donate land or use Park areas to start a garden. Along with the help from local Farmers, we teach people how to propagate and grow their own organic food to eat or be distributed to the needy.

We can devide each city by many areas and in each area there will be a responsible one who will be in charge about the development of his area, we will make an action plan and get obliged with a daedline, and always we will be accepting feedbacks from everyone and the new ideas for our prodject, in these areas will contain factories, farms, barns etc. we can make the classifications of the areas by numbers 1-2-3 or any other sortings.

Intersection lights will remain on, but the sidewalk street lights would be removed and replaced with neon paint; colour coded to indicate certain areas of the road. For example the sidewalk would be outlined with purple, the roads would be yellow, etc. This would reduce the electrcity bill for the community.

Calgary Harvest is an entirely volunteer-run project that exists for the purpose of turning a fallen fruit problem into a local food solution. We harvest unused fruit from local fruit trees and share the bounty. The idea is that, homeowners with fruit trees who don’t plan on picking or using all of their fruit can register their trees with us. Our volunteer coordinators will then organize a pick and send out a team of volunteers to harvest the tree. The harvest is shared three ways between the tree owner, the volunteers, and the community. The community portion is donated to local community groups and charities throughout Calgary. We also use some of the fruit at community events where we provide information and education about how to use the fruit (recipe ideas, preserving workshops and more!). It’s such a simple idea, with an amazing impact. Through the hard work of our volunteers, we are putting good food to use that would have otherwise been wasted, we are diverting waste from landfills, we are inspiring community connections, we are supporting local charities, and we are building stronger local food awareness throughout Calgary! If our idea is chosen, we can do so much more! Currently, we are struggling to manage the 1800+ fruit trees registered in the city, and winning this contest would give us the resources we need to increase our capacity to meet the demand. Though we have trees registered in almost every corner of the city, we don’t have volunteer coverage in every neighborhood which means many trees go unpicked! You can help us to increase our capacity so that we can offer the city-wide coverage that residents are asking for. With the grand prize, we would be able to improve our online presence, create a better database, supply more tools (apple pickers, ladders) and manage our amazing volunteers more effectively. We would also be able to connect with more community organizations and improve our distribution efforts which means more good, local food going to the people who need it most. We have received enormous support from Calgarians so far, and would like to be able to take the project city-wide. Our city has told us loud and clear that they want Calgary Harvest to succeed and to grow – by becoming a smart city project, we can do that! Will you help us?

This is an idea that would help eliminate energy and fuel cost for all.Developing a magnetic Mower that would power itself, a simple design that would help cut down on emissions and pollution. Simply powered by magnets in 2 forms a stationary set of magnets and 1 set of magnets attached to the shaft to turn the blade. As for ride on mowers there is an easy way to turn these into electric powered, thus not having rely on a power cable for energy or fuel. Once started the mower would provide its own power to drive the device. This idea would also help reduce the carbon foot print left by so many of us on a day to day basis. This is 1 of may Green Energy and Green Living Idea's that I have come up with over the last few months. I propose to provide $1000 to each of the 50 publicly funded schools in the Town of Richmond Hill to plant a tree(s) to honour their 2014 graduating classes. Trees symbolize hope while neutralizing carbon, and young people represent our collective hope for the future. Planting trees is SMART.

A problem in Ontario is that we have excess amount of energy at night and sometimes not enough during the day, especially in the summer. During the day electricity costs are higher, forcing people to pay more for energy during peak times, but we end up giving away our hard earned energy at night to the United States. My idea stems from a product that already exists, the Hydrostor. The Hydrostor system efficiently converts electrical energy to compressed air via an advanced adiabatic compression system. This air is then sent to a series of flexible accumulators located 50-500 meters below the surface of a body of water. Once in the accumulators, the energy can be stored until required by the grid. When the energy is required, the weight of the water pushes the air back to the surface where our system directs it through an expander driving a generator thus supplying energy to the grid and completing the storage cycle. This system would be located deep in Kempenfelt Bay, a part of Lake Simcoe. This system would not only save the wasted energy at night, but would reduce our need for non-renewable energy sources during the day, thus reducing our GHG emissions. Currently, Lake Ontario is home to the Hydrostor's first application. This would help support a local company while helping Barrie's local citizens and the City as whole

We recently had a bus service established from the suburb of Fall River to Halifax, Nova Scotia. While this is much more convenient, the bus stop is on the out skirts of town and Is not fully being utilized. I would propose establishing a community shuttle service, using an electric powered vehicle to transport people from the bus stop to their homes. This would improve usage, reduce green house emissions and establish a local business opportunity in a high unemployment region.

My kids saw the devastating effects of fishing line with a bird which got hung up. As a result our family would like to educate our community about responsible fishing line recycling. We would like to show our kids and their friends that even one person can make environmental change. Fishing is a great pastime and even better for a family to enjoy. But fishing line does not decompose and is virtually invisible to animals. It can cause unaware animals horrible crippling or even death. Our family decided we would like to educate our community about the importance of responsible recycling of fishing line. Prices of line left behind can be a huge entanglement danger. We live in renfrew county east of algonquin park. This education will require lobbying our county to recycle fishing line ( this type of plastic already is but not the line as it does not have the symbol on it) creating recycle bins, getting organizations we are a part of to partner with us for clean up days and recycle bin assembly days, public promotion of the program to anglers, resorts and retailers. Through this project we hope to show our children and their friends that even one person can make environmental change.
