I small garbage can mounted to the poles in the city, where people can deposit items such as cans, bottles, cigarettes butts, etc. and receive points for doing so, after 100. points they can redeem at city hall for a prize example: $10. off a parking ticket or $5.00 towards a movie, etc.

Just think of the goodwill, tax reduction, good PR, reduction in the carbon footprint and long term savings if the capital installed solar panels on just some its government buildings. It was send an immediate message to its citizens on its commitment to helping the environment change for the better for generations to come. It may even start a provincial and territorial movement or spur on industry and downtown skyscrapers to do more than just sit there. They would harvest energy instead of draining it. If Boulder Colorado can do it to their university and many others in its core and still keep its good looks why not our city.

I would use the funding to expand community gardens, and access to them. This would include tax-free land acquisitions, providing tools and seeds, and educating new and potential gardeners on what grows best and how to grow a large harvest. Community gardens and garden plots, especially in inner cities, are good for children, families, the environment, and the community as a whole!!

We have a bike path North of Finch that could continue to Rouge National Park. It would provide emergency access to Line 9 instead of a muddy field to wade through for maintenance workers. Also the Don Trail needs repair from the wash out in 2005 to link the Northern part to downtown again. A cycle path should be built along the Path of Line 9. If they want to carry oil sands crude smarter safety protection and fit communities could work together. Instead of a bunch of separate trails we could have an integrated network of recreation paths.

have all cars and trucks banned from the city core have vehicles parked in a super parking lot on the outside of town and have ebikes for everyone there to use then return when done

even if half the street lights are solar and half are turned of that would be a good saving idea

All new construction will have to have green space in place on their rooftops. Older builds could be given incentives to do the same.

many people including myself don't feel comfortable riding in traffic and a white line 18 inches out fro the curb does not incite confidence I believe it would not be too hard when cities are approving new developments they could make a condition that there be dedicated bike trails

I would love tp see a free fitness class run in a central area - indoors or out - weather a consideration - for every one - for free. Different fitness programs could be presented - so people can experience the immediate positive energy getting physical gives you.

Recycling is a great idea, but limiting the size of the container and charging more for extra just makes people recycle less. I think people should be allowed to place extra recycle items by their bins and not be charged the extra fee just because their bin is full. Instead of a money grab let's promote recycling in a positive way. This will have a better effect on the environment.

change each and every street light to an led solar powered street light ,drastically reducing the need for electricity which would have a huge impact not only in saving of energy but also converting to a green technology, reducing the draw from hydro electricity and coal powered generation by reducing the need to build more dams; less impact on the environment and reducing or eliminating some of the coal fired generators across the country ,thus reducing green house gases
